ABOUT US
In January 2021, The Macedon Community House Inc. (Trading as Macedon and Mount Macedon Community House Inc.) was registered as a Not for Profit Incorporated Association. A volunteer Committee of Management was formed for the purpose of securing the Council-owned property at 47 Victoria St, Macedon, for ongoing use as a community facility. A memorandum of understanding (MOU) was signed with Macedon Ranges Shire Council to lease the building, subsequent to a jointly funded Building Renewal Project being undertaken. The House officially opened in November 2022.
Modified model Rules of Association were adopted in May 2024 and can be found here.

OUR VISION
The M& MMCH serves as an all-abilities access community connection hub. Open to all members of our community, the House is a safe and inclusive place, where people of all ages meet, get to know each other, share skills, knowledge and mutual support.
The House itself is a place where community members can collaborate to develop a program of activities, events and new initiatives. The programming, policies &
practices at the House are designed to improve the social determinants of key local population health priorities. This is reflected in our focus on building community by providing opportunities for social connection & civic engagement through the
implementation of programs that foster a sense of collective belonging, security, fulfilment, and growth. This approach is strategically planned to advance the mental health & wellbeing of our community.
By working with the community for the community, M&MMCH also contributes to developing our local communities' social, cultural and economic capital and creating a happier, fairer and healthier future for our community whist honouring the history of
the land on which it stands.

AGM & the new M&MMCH Committee of Management
The Macedon and Mount Macedon Community House held its 5th Annual General Meeting (AGM) on Thursday 13th March 2025. The AGM confirmed that the M&MMCH would maintain a fee-free membership for anyone in the local community. The financial reports were presented by our outgoing Treasurer Andrew Williams and demonstrated our sound financial position.

The 2024 Committee Report was presented by James Mackenzie, Secretary for M&MMCH and outlined the many achievements for the year. The highlights included:
-
the completion of stage 1 of the landscaping project with the physical infrastructure organised by Luke Basham, and his team from Ginkgo Yards, followed by the planting of the gardens overseen by Emily Rogers and Melina Goddard and a team of enthusiastic volunteers.
-
the completion of stage 1 of the kitchen project to enlarge the existing space by moving an internal wall making the space much more user friendly for anyone using the house for programs and events.
-
wrapping up the sponsorship program that resulted in over $50,000 raised in funds or in-kind support.
-
fundraising sausage sizzles at Bunnings, Viewfield Gardens, Mount Macedon Trail Run to support our M&MMCH programs and keep us operational.
-
seeing ongoing community participation in playgroups, yoga, permaculture and volunteer gardening, craft, war hammer club and canasta sessions.
The 2024 committee thanked all our supporters, sponsors, current and retiring committee members and all our generous volunteers. We understand that none of this activity could possibly take place without their valued support and input.
Some of our foundation committee members have now retired and so we welcome the new committee to build on the solid outcomes we have achieved for our community to date.
