ABOUT US
In January 2021, The Macedon Community House Inc. (Trading as Macedon and Mount Macedon Community House Inc.) was registered as a Not for Profit Incorporated Association. A volunteer Committee of Management was formed for the purpose of securing the Council-owned property at 47 Victoria St, Macedon, for ongoing use as a community facility. A memorandum of understanding (MOU) was signed with Macedon Ranges Shire Council to lease the building, subsequent to a jointly funded Building Renewal Project being undertaken. The House officially opened in November 2022.
Modified model Rules of Association were adopted in May 2024 and can be found here.

OUR VISION
The M& MMCH serves as an all-abilities access community connection hub. Open to all members of our community, the House is a safe and inclusive place, where people of all ages meet, get to know each other, share skills, knowledge and mutual support.
The House itself is a place where community members can collaborate to develop a program of activities, events and new initiatives. The programming, policies &
practices at the House are designed to improve the social determinants of key local population health priorities. This is reflected in our focus on building community by providing opportunities for social connection & civic engagement through the
implementation of programs that foster a sense of collective belonging, security, fulfilment, and growth. This approach is strategically planned to advance the mental health & wellbeing of our community.
By working with the community for the community, M&MMCH also contributes to developing our local communities' social, cultural and economic capital and creating a happier, fairer and healthier future for our community whist honouring the history of
the land on which it stands.
OUR MISSION
The Committee of Management’s mission is to:
-
Ensure that the Community House is user friendly by providing essential fittings, furnishings and equipment.
-
Plan and implement for building & land use developments at the Community House that meet the evolving uses and requirements of user groups

AGM & the new M&MMCH Committee of Management
The Macedon and Mount Macedon Community House held its 6th Annual General Meeting (AGM) on Tuesday 23rd February 2026. The AGM confirmed that the M&MMCH would maintain a fee-free membership for anyone in the local community. The financial reports were presented by our outgoing Treasurer Andrew Williams and demonstrated our sound financial position.

The 2025 Committee Report was presented by James Mackenzie, Secretary for M&MMCH and outlined the many achievements for the year. The highlights included:

-
Completion of Phase 1B of the Landscaping Design & Construction Project.
This initiative has resulted in the establishment of the Volunteer Community
Gardening Capacity Building Program and the installation of additional garden
infrastructure. The project was generously funded through a State Government,
Regional Development Victoria, Tiny Towns grant, a small project grant from
Macedon Ranges Shire Council (MRSC) and local donor contributions -
The Volunteer Community Gardening Program has provided opportunities for
volunteer teams to assist with the maintenance & development of the following
community garden precincts: the kitchen garden, permaculture garden, indigenous
garden, sensory garden and courtyard at the front of the house.
The program delivered by the Horticultural team included: regular weekly gardening
sessions led by qualified horticulturalists, working bees, workshops, guest speaker
events, shared morning teas and lunch celebrations. -
A comprehensive MMMCH Volunteer Community Garden Program, Resource
Manual was compiled to serve as a handy reference guide to caring for the
Community House garden precincts across the seasons. -
Front courtyard. In addition, an Australia Post grant was secured with the support of
the then Macedon Post Office owner, Anne Moody that supported the purchase of a
new lawn mower & whipper snipper. -
Stage 2 of the Kitchen Renovation Project was also completed, and we now have a
fully functional kitchen including new cabinetry, a stove, and a commercial
dishwasher. This project was generously funded through grants from the Gisborne
Community Bank (Bendigo Bank) and Macedon Ranges Shire Council and a
generous donation from a local MMMCH sponsor (Sally Owen)
The 2025 committee thanked all our supporters, sponsors, current and retiring committee members and all our generous volunteers. We understand that none of this activity could possibly take place without their valued support and input.

Some of our foundation committee members have now retired and so we welcome the new committee to build on the solid outcomes we have achieved for our community to date.
