Lot's happening at the House - see below for a couple of exciting events and also reminders about our Permaculture Garden Club and Produce Swap!
Village Building Workshop (Saturday 10th May)
Have you heard about the Village Building Workshop happening at the house on Saturday May 10th? We're looking for people in our village to learn techniques for community resilience, form connections, and develop skills for collaboration. Our goal is to build on the strong foundations that already exist in our communities to create an even stronger and more resilient village.
We have a small number of places remaining to offer to applicants from within the Macedon & Mt Macedon communities and we're seeking people from across our community to come together and lay the foundations for a resilient village. This event is fully funded and includes catering on the day.
We'd love to have someone in the room from your neighborhood, club or organisation, so please do consider applying, or share with that person who's great at bringing everyone together - you know who they are! Apply online here:
Nature Connection with Claire Dunn (Friday 9th May)
Join author and rewilding educator Claire Dunn for a half day nature connection experience in Macedon. The morning includes nature observation and awareness practices such as sit spot, natural movement, tracking, bird language and expanded sensory awareness as well as ancestral skills such as cordage (working with fibres), and fire-by-friction. Attendees will learn practices for paying attention to the seasons, weather patterns, waterways, ecosystems, flora, fauna and geography of a place. Re-awakening these innate capacities in humans for connection to the natural world deepens the sense of belonging to place and enhances wellbeing, while also creating a sense of care and responsibility - we are more likely to protect that which we love. This event is free but numbers are limited so registration is essential. Reserve your place now: https://www.mmmcommunityhouse.org/event-details/nature-connection-with-claire-dunn-2
Both these workshops are being run by Permies @ The House with the backing of Macedon & Mt Macedon Community House and generously supported by Macedon Ranges Shire Council Council and community partners Macedon Ranges Community enterprises and Community Bank Gisborne & District.
Permaculture Garden Club (Fridays in Term 2)
Connect with the local Permaculture community, share skills & knowledge and help us create a thriving and abundant edible garden. The Permaculture Club meets every Friday during term time from 9.30am, followed by morning tea and a shared activity with the Permies at 11am. The Friday Gardening session has a particular focus on the Permaculture elements of the Garden. The group will carry out maintenance work in the permaculture food forest and tend to the fruit trees, berries & many other edible plants across the property. In Term 2 we will also focus on expanding the Indigenous garden, and are seeking new members with an interest in growing and caring for indigenous plants.
Join the club online and then drop in any Friday from 9.30am https://www.mmmcommunityhouse.org/event-details/permaculture-garden-club-term-2
